Academic Driving School
Terms of Service
Effective Date: 05/15/2025
Welcome Message
Welcome to Academic Driving School! We’re excited you’ve chosen us for your driver training, driver education courses, and online resources — which we’ll collectively refer to as our “Services.” We’re committed to delivering a safe, informative, and empowering learning experience, and we’re glad you’re reading these Terms of Service.
These Terms outline the rules and responsibilities that apply to your use of our Services. We’ve done our best to write them in plain, clear language, but they are a legally binding agreement between you and Academic Driving School. By using our Services, you’re agreeing to these Terms. If you do not agree, please refrain from using our Services.
We also encourage you to review our Privacy Policy, which outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the services of Academic Driving School (“we,” “our,” or “us”), including booking driving lessons, accessing our website, or communicating with our team, you (“you,” “your,” or “student”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. Services Provided
Academic Driving School offers:
Teen, adult, and senior driving instruction
- 30 Hours of Online Driving Education
DMV preparation lessons
Pickup and drop-off services within designated service areas
Use of dual-control vehicles for safety
Certificates of Completion (when applicable)
All services are subject to availability and may vary by location.
3. Eligibility
To use our services, you must:
Be at least 15½ years old for teen driving lessons (with proper documentation)
Possess a valid learner’s permit or driver’s license as required
Have no medical or legal restrictions that would prevent safe operation of a motor vehicle
4. Scheduling & Cancellations
At Academic Driving School, we value both our students’ flexibility and our instructors’ time. To help our instructors manage their schedules efficiently while offering students the flexibility they need, we’ve developed a fair cancellation and rebooking policy.
You are free to cancel or reschedule a lesson at no charge if done 72 hours or more in advance. Changes or cancellations within 72 hours of your scheduled lesson may incur a fee, as follows:
72 hours or more before lesson start: No fee
Between 72 and 24 hours before lesson start: 35% of the lesson price
Less than 24 hours, including no-shows or cancellations after the start time: Full lesson price is charged
We encourage students to plan ahead to avoid unnecessary charges and help us provide a better experience for all.
5. Payments and Refunds
When you book a service with Academic Driving School, you agree to pay the listed rates at the time of booking. Lessons must be pre-paid, and credits are added to your account based on the number of hours included in the package you choose. For example:
A single 2-hour lesson = 2 hours of credit
A 6-hour package = 6 hours of credit
Credits are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. After 6 months, any unused lesson credits expire. However, you may repurchase expired credits at a 65% discount (only 35% of the current rate) — this offer applies only to unused, expired lessons and does not apply to lessons forfeited due to cancellation, no-shows, or change fees.
You can purchase additional lessons at full price at any time. Multi-lesson packages are priced more affordably than individual lessons.
By booking and paying for any service, you agree to all pricing and billing terms stated herein. In the event of non-payment, Academic Driving School reserves the right to:
Temporarily pause your account
Withhold certificates or documentation of completion
Restrict access to course materials or scheduling tools
A $29 processing fee will be charged for any duplicate certificate requested.
6. Code of Conduct
Students must:
Arrive on time and be prepared for each lesson
Treat instructors and staff respectfully
Follow all safety instructions given by the instructor
Not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or impairing medications
We reserve the right to terminate services for inappropriate or unsafe behavior.
7. Use of Vehicles
Our vehicles are:
Fully insured
Equipped with dual brake controls for instructor override
Only to be used under the supervision of an authorized instructor
Damage caused by reckless or negligent behavior may be the responsibility of the student.
8. Your Safety
Driving requires full attention. To ensure a safe learning environment, we strongly advise students to store their phones in the glovebox, trunk, or other out-of-reach place during lessons to avoid distractions.
9. Service Termination
We’re committed to offering high-quality services, but from time to time we may add, remove, or change features, services, or products — including discontinuing certain offerings altogether — without prior notice.
You may end your relationship with Academic Driving School at any time by contacting us to delete your account. We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate services at our discretion, particularly in cases of policy violation or non-payment.
10. Changes to These Terms
At Academic Driving School, we’re constantly improving. That means our services and policies may evolve. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. While we’ll do our best to communicate major changes, we recommend you review these Terms periodically. Your continued use of our services implies your acceptance of any updates.
Future services and features will also be governed by the most recent version of these Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, specifically those applicable in Alameda County. Any disputes will be resolved in the appropriate courts located in Alameda County.
